The diploma program in Medical Assisting and X-Ray at Daytona College is designed to provide students with focused medical assisting career courses in preparation for entry-level employment in occupations involved within administrative and clinical aspects in a variety of medical settings.
The sequence of courses emphasizes a combination of medical theory and practical application in courses necessary to perform the duties of a medical assistant and x-ray technician under the direction of a doctor in private or group practices, clinics, and other medical facilities.
If you are looking for a satisfying job in a field where you can feel good about improving people’s quality of life, a medical assisting career could be an excellent fit for you. The curriculum includes training in a variety of clinical and administrative duties with students gaining additional experience in a physician’s office or appropriate facility by participating in an externship.
The Daytona College Medical Assisting Program is recognized by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) and students will qualify for the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification examination upon graduating from our Medical Assisting program.
Graduates are eligible for the Basic Radiographer exam through the ARRT. Graduates should confirm licensure requirements in their individual state of residency. In addition, graduates from our Medical Assisting programs will qualify for the EKG Technician Certification (CET) and Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT) examinations through the National Healthcare Association upon graduating from either the Associate of Science or Medical Assisting Diploma programs. Graduates are required to complete all documentation and meet the standards of the certification agencies.
