Theraputic Massage and Skin Care Degree
This program combines massage therapy and skin care to prepare graduates to perform dual roles in the allied health and spa industry as a massage therapist and facial specialist. The Therapeutic Massage and Skincare program provides training in therapeutic massage and skin care with knowledge of the structure and function of the human body. Students receive training in massage therapy procedures and techniques, allied modalities, hydrotherapy, law and ethics, the prevention of medical errors, proper procedures behind the use of skin care techniques, aromatherapy, and business and client development. General education and second year courses prepare the graduate with advanced decision making skills in various capacities in the massage therapy and skin care field.
This combination program prepares students for the National Certification Examination offered by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork for licensure as a massage therapist in Florida and also for Registration as a Facial Specialist with a Certification in Body Wrapping in Florida. The Daytona College graduate, licensed for massage therapy and registered as a facial specialist and certified in body wrapping, is qualified for entry-level employment as a licensed and registered professional who possesses training critical for employment opportunities in resort spas and medical facilities. The graduate can demonstrate communication and employability skills and can apply professional and appropriate ethics to all areas of the job.
Aesthetics Skincare Diploma
The Aesthetics Skincare program provides students training in the traditional holistic approach to skin care and includes additional training in the areas of make up and color analysis, mask and spa therapies, hair removal, enzyme treatments, pressure points massage, body wrapping, Microdermabrasion and hot stone treatments. Students are introduced to medical pharmaceutical product protocols and will learn the principles of effective retailing and general business development as it relates to the practice of the skincare professional. Graduates from the program will demonstrate an understanding of the structure and function of the skin and how to apply skin care treatments through the effective utilization of product and equipment protocols. The Aesthetics Skincare Program prepares students for registration in the state of Florida as a Registered Facial Specialist and Certified Body Wrapper. The registered graduate is qualified for entry-level employment as a Registered Facial Specialist and Certified Body Wrapper with training critical for employment opportunities in resort spas and medical facilities. The graduate can demonstrate communication and employability skills and can apply professional and appropriate ethics to all areas of the job.
